Doc. PhDr. Jiří Vykoukal, CSc.


Jiří Vykoukal graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, in history. After graduation he was a research fellow at the Institute of Central and East European History of the Czechoslovak Academy of Science and later a research fellow at the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences. In 1991/1992 he lectured as a visiting professor at Lawrence University (USA). Now he is a director of the Institute of International Studies and the head of the Center for the Research of Collective Memory at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Jiří Vykoukal has been a member of academic institutions (Charles University Board for Internal Evaluation) and editorial boards of history and area studies journals. His main focus is the modern history and historiography of Central Europe.
